Christmas Games?
In The Key With Michael #1
Christmas games are fun to watch but you have to be sympathetic for the players. Would you rather be spending Christmas with your family or in Staples Center surrounded by thousands of people. I choose
with my family. And Phil Jackson and LeBron James agree. LeBron even stated, "If you ask any player in the league, we'd rather be home with our families," James said. "I think the people that even set the games up would rather be home with their family during this day. It's not just a regular holiday. It's definitely one of those days that you wish you could wake up in the morning with the kids and open up presents."
Phil Jackson must be upset too. He and his Lakers have been playing on Christmas every year since 1999 and they will be playing LeBron and the Heat on Christmas day. He stated that he wonders why Christian Holidays mean so little to the NBA. He also noted that the NHL and most other major sports league take Christmas off. Not only are the Lakers playing the Heat, but there are going to be four other games on Saturday. LeBron and Phil, I couldn't agree more.
Yao Ming

How would you feel missing all of last year, and only playing five games this season. Not very good I bet. Well, this is exactly what happened to Yao Ming, the 7' 6'' center for the Rockets. Yao was hurt all of last year, and when he came back this year, he only played five games before getting hurt again. Yao injured his ankle and now he is out for the season. The worst part is, this could be the end for Yao. I feel pretty bad for Yao, not being able to play all of last year and the rest of this year. The problem is, he is just too tall. His ankles cannot support him. The rockets have asked the NBA for a disabled player salary cap exception in the wake of Yao Ming's season ending ankle injury. All I can say is hope you get better Yao.
NBA Contraction

If there were fewer teams in the NBA then there would be more stars so more stars would play together so there would be better games. I think this is a good point, that there would be more stars playing together and that would be fun to watch, but only for the fans of the Lakers or the Heat or the Magic. Think about the fans of the teams with not many wins. It would be frightening to think that their team might just vanish. Or the players on that team. That is how they make a living and it would be even more frightening. Or the coaches and the owners and anyone else who is involved in the league. Although it is unlikely, it is thought of. I do think it would be more fun to watch great players on teams playing against other great players on teams, but I would feel bad for the other teams and fans.
